WATCC-2011 Prelims - Simulated Work Climb
The work climb is an event created to test a climber’s speed and ability to perform specific tasks within the tree. The climber will not start the event until he is positioned comfortably at the top of the tree. Once settled in the top of the tree, the event will begin when the climber activates the first buzzer. Once a climber has activated the start buzzer the climbers objective is to move swiftly, calmly, safely and cleverly through the tree.
The climber will have five targets to reach whilst descending and five tasks to complete at each of these stations. During each movement through the tree and at each station, the climber will be judged on his climbing technique. Besides the tasks set in the tree the climber also has the challenge of racing the clock. The climber who gains the most points will be the winner and not necessarily the climber with the fastest time. However points gained as a result of a good overall time will help you a lot in gaining the points you will need to become the champion in the event.
